How to Check CM Punjab Laptop Scheme Merit List
Check the merit list at ehec.hec.gov.pk by entering your CNIC number. Your university also posts the list on notice boards. If selected, you'll receive an SMS notification with the laptop collection date and venue.
When Merit Lists Are Published
Merit lists are published 4-8 weeks after the application deadline closes. HEC needs time to verify all applications with universities, cross-check CGPA records, and compile institution-wise rankings. There's no exact date — monitor the HEC website, your university's official social media, and notice boards for announcements.
Lists are published institution by institution, so your university's list might appear a few days before or after others. Don't panic if your classmates from another university can check their status but yours isn't up yet.
How to Check Your Name on the Merit List
- Visit ehec.hec.gov.pk.
- Look for the "Laptop Scheme Merit List" or "Check Status" section.
- Enter your CNIC number (13 digits, no dashes).
- If selected, the system shows your name, university, and laptop collection details.
- If not selected, it shows "Not Selected" or your ranking position.
What "Selected" Means — Next Steps
Being on the merit list means you've been approved for a laptop. The next steps:
- SMS notification. Selected students receive an SMS with the distribution date, time, and venue (usually at your university campus).
- Bring your CNIC. You must present your original CNIC at the distribution event for identity verification. No CNIC = no laptop, regardless of your merit list status.
- Sign the receipt. You'll sign a receiving document confirming laptop collection. The laptop is registered to your CNIC.
- Laptop specs. Specifications vary by round but typically include a mid-range laptop (Core i3/i5 or equivalent, 4-8 GB RAM, 256-512 GB storage). Don't expect a gaming laptop — it's meant for academic work.
Not on the list? Check if you met all eligibility criteria. If you believe there's an error, contact HEC's helpline or your university's registrar office with your application reference number.
Common Merit List Issues
- "CNIC not found." You either didn't apply, applied with a different CNIC, or the list for your university hasn't been published yet. Verify your application reference number first.
- "Not Selected" despite high CGPA. Selection is institution-wise with limited quotas per university. A 3.5 CGPA might not be enough at a highly competitive institution where many students have 3.7+. It's relative, not absolute.
- Name spelling errors. If selected but your name is misspelled, bring your CNIC to the distribution event — CNIC matching is what matters, not the name spelling on the list.
- Missed the distribution event. Contact your university's focal person immediately. Some universities hold secondary distribution days. If you miss entirely, the laptop may be reassigned to a waitlisted student.
Scam warning: After merit lists are published, scammers contact students claiming they can "add names" to the list for a fee. This is impossible — the list is finalized by HEC. Never send money to anyone claiming to modify merit lists.
Merit List Verification — Student Queries
Visit ehec.hec.gov.pk and enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the merit list check section. If selected, your name, university, and collection details are displayed.
Typically 4-8 weeks after the application deadline closes. The exact date varies by round. Monitor HEC's website, your university's notice board, and official social media for announcements.
Your original CNIC is mandatory. Some distribution events also require your university ID card and the application confirmation printout. Check the SMS notification for specific requirements for your distribution event.
Contact HEC's helpline or your university's registrar office with your application reference number. If there was a data verification error, they can review your case. However, if you simply didn't meet the CGPA cutoff for your institution, there's no appeal — the ranking is merit-based.
