How to Apply for Driving License Online — DLIMS Punjab

Quick Answer

Verify your driving license at dlims.punjab.gov.pk by entering your CNIC number. The system shows your license category, issue date, expiry date, and status (active, expired, or suspended). DLIMS is Punjab's centralized driving license management system.

What DLIMS Does for Punjab Drivers

DLIMS (Driving License Issuance Management System) replaced Punjab's old paper-based license offices with a digital system. Every license issued, renewed, or verified in Punjab goes through DLIMS. The online portal lets you check license status, verify someone else's license, and confirm whether a license is genuine — all without visiting an office.

How to Check License Status on DLIMS

  1. Visit dlims.punjab.gov.pk.
  2. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number.
  3. The portal displays: license number, categories (motorcycle, car, LTV, HTV), issue date, expiry date, and current status.

If "no record found," either you don't have a Punjab-issued license, or your license predates the DLIMS digital records (very old licenses). Visit a DLIMS office for clarification.

Need to renew? License renewal guide. Applying for the first time? New learner permit process. License expired? Expired license renewal steps.

What DLIMS Shows About Your License

  • License categories: Motorcycle (MC), Light Transport Vehicle (LTV), Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV), PSV (Public Service Vehicle). You may hold multiple categories.
  • Issue and expiry dates: Punjab licenses are valid for 5 years from the issue date.
  • Status: Active (valid for driving), Expired (needs renewal), Suspended (driving prohibited — legal or points-based), Cancelled (revoked permanently).
  • Endorsements and violations: Some DLIMS records show traffic violation history linked to the license.

Verifying Someone Else's License

Employers, vehicle rental companies, and ride-hailing platforms use DLIMS to verify driver credentials. Enter any CNIC to check if the person holds a valid Punjab driving license. This is useful for hiring drivers, renting vehicles, or verifying claims of license possession.

DLIMS covers Punjab only. Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, and Islamabad have separate license systems. A KPK license won't appear on DLIMS Punjab. For licenses from other provinces, contact the respective licensing authority.
