How to Check Motorcycle Registration Online
Check motorcycle registration at mtmis.excise.punjab.gov.pk — enter the motorcycle registration number (e.g., LHR-12-3456). The system shows owner name, make/model, engine/chassis number, and token tax status. The process is identical to car verification.
Motorcycle Registration Verification in Punjab
Motorcycle theft is among the most common property crimes in Pakistan — thousands are stolen daily. Checking registration before buying a used motorcycle isn't optional; it's essential. MTMIS lets you verify that the motorcycle exists in the system, who owns it, and whether it's flagged as stolen — all in under a minute.
How to Check Motorcycle Registration
The process is exactly the same as checking a car on MTMIS:
- Open mtmis.excise.punjab.gov.pk.
- Enter the motorcycle registration number.
- View results: owner name, motorcycle make/model, engine number, chassis number, registration date, and token tax status.

Motorcycle-Specific Verification Tips
- Engine number is critical. Motorcycle engine numbers are stamped on the engine casing. Compare with MTMIS. A mismatch means the engine was swapped — possibly from a stolen bike.
- Chassis number location. Usually stamped on the frame near the steering head. Compare with MTMIS results. If scratched, re-stamped, or illegible, that's a serious red flag.
- Token tax for motorcycles is cheap. Rs. 200-500 annually. If the seller hasn't paid token tax for years, it's a sign of potential ownership issues — legitimate owners typically keep such small dues current.
- Unregistered motorcycles. Many motorcycles in Pakistan are driven without registration. If the seller can't provide a registration number to verify on MTMIS, the motorcycle may never have been registered — or worse, the papers may be fabricated.
Red Flags When Buying a Used Motorcycle
- No registration documents. "Papers are at home" or "I'll give them later" means walk away.
- MTMIS shows different owner. The motorcycle hasn't been transferred. Insist on proper transfer.
- Price significantly below market. Stolen motorcycles are sold cheap for quick disposal. If the deal seems too good, it probably is.
- Engine/chassis number tampered. Re-stamped, scratched, or filed-down numbers indicate tampering to hide the motorcycle's true identity.
- Seller reluctant to visit Excise office. A legitimate seller has no reason to avoid the formal transfer process.
Motorcycle theft is rampant. Punjab police data shows motorcycles are the most stolen vehicle type. Always verify on MTMIS, check engine/chassis numbers physically, and complete the formal transfer at Excise and Taxation. Buying without verification makes you liable if the motorcycle turns out to be stolen.

Rs. 200-500 annually depending on engine CC. Most motorcycles (70cc-150cc) fall in the lower range. Token tax is due yearly.
Either the motorcycle was never registered (common for older bikes), it's registered in another province, or the registration number is fake. Ask the seller to show the original registration documents and verify at the Excise office if MTMIS shows no results.
Both buyer and seller visit the Excise and Taxation office with CNICs, the registration book, and transfer fee. The process is the same as car transfer. See vehicle ownership transfer guide for details.
